Check Point Supports Microsoft Network Access Protection Technology for Security Policy Enforcement
Check Point Builds Upon Total Access Protection Initiative with Support for Microsoft Standards
Redwood City, CA - December 13, 2004 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the world leader in securing the Internet, today announced its ongoing support of Microsoft's Network Access Protection (NAP), an extensible standards-based technology that will enable enterprises to more securely access their corporate network. Support for Network Access Protection underscores Check Point's commitment to industry standards, particularly those that help to enhance and enforce security policy compliance.
In addition to Check Point's existing support for the industry-standard 802.1x and Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP), support for Network Access Protection technology builds upon Check Point's Total Access Protection (TAP) endpoint security initiative. TAP provides a security
policy enforcement framework for heterogeneous networks. Extending the TAP initiative to support Microsoft's Network Access Protection strategy provides enterprise security professionals with new tools for their security arsenal to combat the risks posed by hackers, targeted attacks,
spyware and malicious code.
Whether users access the network from inside or outside the corporate perimeter, using a wireless or wired connection, support for EAP enables Check Point solutions to integrate with over 200 network access devices from leading vendors who have stated support for EAP. Support for Network Access
Protection will build upon Check Point's offerings that through integration, allow customers to utilize their existing technology investments.
"IT professionals are asking for more control over access methods and policy compliance to protect corporate and IT assets," said Steve Anderson, a director in the Windows Server group at Microsoft. "Network Access Protection technologies will provide IT professionals with the visibility
and management they desire. Microsoft is dedicated to working with innovative companies like Check Point to deliver proactive solutions that defend enterprise networks from ever-evolving security hazards."
Check Point's products including Check Point Integrity, the company's centrally-managed endpoint security solution, and VPN-1 Pro, an integrated VPN-1 and FireWall-1 gateway, will support Microsoft's Network Access Protection program.
"Check Point's proactive Perimeter, Internal and Web solutions allow enterprises to significantly reduce the risks of business disruption, theft of confidential data and loss of productivity for employees and IT," said Frederick Felman, vice president of marketing, Check Point's
Zone Labs division. "Network Access Protection technology complements our Total Access Protection initiative for ensuring policy compliance in heterogeneous networks and further safeguards our customers from new and emerging threats."
