Understanding Virus Scan Results

To view scan results and treat the infected files:

  1. In the Antivirus/Anti-spyware Scan window, click the Show Detections arrow button to expand the view of the detected malware. These are the fields in the Detections viewer:

    File name

    The name of the infected file.

    Virus name

    The common name of the detected virus.

    Type

    The type of infection. Possible values are:

    Virus

    Trojan

    Rootkit

    Worm

    Bot

    Spyware

    Risk

    The risk level of the detected malware. All viruses are considered High risk. Other malware that is not a virus can also be Low, or Medium risk.

    Treatment

    Specifies the treatment automatically applied to the infected file. Possible values are:

    Treated

    Treatment failed

    Treatment on reboot

    Ignored

    Ignored Always

    NOTE: See Dealing with Infected Files for instructions on how to view and handle quarantined files.

    Path

    The full location path of the malware.

  2. Click on a name of an infected file to select it.
  3. Select one of these actions:
    • Treat - to let the Antivirus & Anti-spyware security engine automatically treat the infection.
    • Ignore once - to not treat the infected file this time.
    • Ignore always - to never treat the files infected with this malware.
  4. Click Close, when done.
