Selecting Scan Targets

To configure scan targets:

  1. In the ANTIVIRUS tab click Settings.

    The Antivirus/Anti-spyware Settings window opens.

  2. Select Scan Targets from the navigation tree.
  3. Select individual drives, folders, files, and components for scanning.
  4. Boot sectors and system memory are other critical components that can be scanned. To scan them, select:
    • Scan boot sectors for all local drives.
    • Scan system memory.
  5. Click OK.

Note - These settings apply to on-demand Full Scans only. A Quick Scan scans for viruses in memory, boot sectors, startup folders and folders linked to the startup items. You can not change the Quick Scan settings. You also can not stop Full Scans from scanning some mandatory sensitive areas, like C:\windows\system32.
