FTP programs

To use FTP (File Transfer Protocol) programs, you may need to make the following settings adjustments in your FTP client program and in ZoneAlarm security software:

  • Enable passive or PASV mode in your FTP client

This tells the client to use the same port for communication in both directions. If PASV is not enabled, ZoneAlarm security software may block the FTP server's attempt to contact a new port for data transfer.

  • Add the FTP sites you use to the Trusted Zone
  • Give Trusted Zone access permission to your FTP client program.

To learn how to add to the Trusted Zone and give access permission to a program, see Setting advanced security options.
