Known issues and workarounds
Web
browser issues
- In FireFox 3.1 Beta 2, if you download a file you will not see the filename in the ForceField download dialog. The file will download, however.
- With
ForceField on, in Internet Explorer the File
> Send > Shortcut to Desktop command will not create a shorcut to a Web site. Workaround: From the ForceField
system tray icon, choose Open
unprotected browser and temporarily open the Web site in
the unprotected browser window so you can use the Send > Shortcut to
Desktop command.
- Clearing
the virtual data in ForceField Advanced Settings
panel may clear new browser settings because they occurred inside the ForceField virtual file system.R0038629
- With
ForceField on, in Firefox you cannot use the
right-click shortcut to set a Web page image as your desktop background. CR00385858
- If
a non-supported browser is set to be your default browser, all Web links
will open in your default browser and therefore will not be protected by ForceField even if ForceField
is running.CR0
Startup
- ForceField may not load with Web browser
at startup. If
ForceField is still initializing when a Web
browser opens, the browser may open without ForceField
protection. This is most likely to occur if your browser and ForceField are both configured to open at system
startup. Workaround: If
the ForceField toolbar doesn't appear in the
browser, close it and open another browser window after ForceField has finished initializing.
- Browser
fails to start if files in virtual file system become corrupted. In rare circumstances, files in
the virtual file system may become corrupted and stop a browser from
opening. Workaround: If
this happens, try clicking Clear
Virtual Data in the ForceField Advanced settings panel.
Compatibility
- Screen
snapshot programs. The anti-keylogger feature, which
includes an anti-screen-grabber technology, may block the ability of some
screen snapshot programs to work.
Workarounds: In the Advanced Settings panel, deselect Anti-Spyware | Block programs that secretly
record your keystrokes, then restart ForceField. If you still cannot take screenshots, disable the ForceField Startup option in the Settings
panel, then restart your computer. Take your
screenshots before starting ForceField again.CR00386182

unavailable. CR00386093 CR00386018 CR00385535
- The
Add Shortcut to Desktop doesn't work in Roboform
Free. CR00386132
- Microsoft
OneNote and EverNote exports may not be
retained.
- Uploads
to Web-based file system. In some cases you may need to restart ForceField in order to see contents you have uploaded
to a Web page file system. This occurs with the FAT32 file system. CR00386082
- Third-party
security/web-filtering products and Internet access. Some security and
web-filtering products, such as OPTENET Web Filter, may block access to
the Internet when ForceField is on. CR00386160
- Third-party security products and ForceField. Some third-party security
suites, such as Spyware Doctor, may block ForceField
from working. In addition, third-party antivirus or antispyware software
may mistake ForceField files for a virus or
spyware and therefore block ForceField. Workaround: If possible,
configure your third-party security products to recognize and accept ForceField. CR00386272
Keyboard
input problems on Web
- Some
interactive games and features that use Adobe Flash may conflict with the
anti-keylogger feature of ForceField.
For example, the Space bar may not work. This problem can also occur with
other input technology programs, such as GooglePinyin.
Workaround: On the
ForceField Advanced Settings panel, deselect Anti-Spyware | Block programs that secretly
record your keystrokes, then restart ForceField.
