Using Advanced Download Protection*

ZoneAlarm browser security’s Advanced Download Protection happens automatically when you download a file from the Web. There is nothing you need to do unless it warns you that the file is—or might be—malicious. You are given the option to delete it or run an advanced scan on it.

  • ZoneAlarm browser security checks to make sure the download doesn’t include viruses or spyware. If this check cannot verify that the file is safe, it asks you if you want to perform an Advanced scan.
  • You can skip the Advanced Scan, but only do so if you trust this file and the Web site you downloaded it from. If the file is found to be dangerous, a warning appears that lets you delete it. If the file is found to be safe, you can open it.

See How Advanced Download Protection* Works for more background on what these protections do and why they exist.

To turn it on or off:

1. From the ZoneAlarm Security toolbar menu, choose Settings, and then click Advanced.

2. Select or deselect Check file downloads for spyware.
