Advanced Antivirus & Anti-Spyware Configuration

To customize the behavior of the Antivirus & Anti-Spyware engine more, you can configuring these Antivirus & Anti-spyware advanced options:

  • Scan Options and Riskware Categories - lets you fine-tune the scanning process.
  • Scan Targets - lets you select the drives, folders, files, and system components for on-demand system scans.
  • On-Access Scanning - scans for viruses before you open, save, or execute a file. It is enabled by default, and gives the most active form of malware protection. We recommend you keep it enabled.
  • Exceptions - lets you specify directories, files, or programs that you do not wish to scan for viruses and malware. This can be useful in cases when you know these directories, files, and programs are safe, but will reduce your protection level.
  • Behavioral Scan - lets you control the list of suspicious behavioral categories. Behavioral scanning detects new malware that is not yet tracked by anti-virus databases. For example, it can detect a process attempting to install a driver to gain access to your operating system. It can also detect rootkit-like behaviors that can set up access for hackers. The dangerous behaviors list is dynamically updated when the ZoneAlarm product receives updates.
